Franz W. Groth started Groth Water Wells in 1900. F.W. was the grandson of the first resident of Cedarburg and the first of five generations and counting of water well professionals.
F.W. and his sons drilled wells using horse-drawn equipment and other technology. His sons carried on the business throughout the 20th century, passing down the knowledge and experience to each of their sons to this day.
Groth Water Wells has progressed through time, enduring the great depression and both world wars, adapting to the changing demands on water systems to provide area residents with clean drinking water.
